"Stamped Background" Challenge

This is my page for Stamped Background Challenge at Scrapbook Sisters:

I stamped leaves and stems on the pink background paper with the same green that is in the girls pink shirts. I cut out stamped flower images and placed them directly over the matching stamped flower image on the background paper to create the dimension.   I added a pre-made scrolled butterfly and bling to the flower centers.
The tag is vellum with a stamped image.

I had two of these pictures so I made one for each of the girl's scrapbooks. This time used my leaf/branch die along with the same stamped cut out flowers. I also stamped the upper left corner with a very pale pink. It was pretty simple as I didn't alter the leaf branches like it did in my last post's scrapbook page. I hope to inspire someone who would like to use their stamps more like I need to do.

Paper Flower Layers with Branches Scrapbook Page/Text and Tulle Challenge/Flowers Challenge

Here is my favorite scrapbook lay-out from the crops I went to this spring.

I used my Sizzix Flower Layers and Sizzlits Branch w/Leaves dies in the BigKick to create this page. The flowers are layered with some lace backing the largest flower.

I then dotted the Glossy Accents to adhere the Twinklets Diamond Dust to give sparkle to the flowers and some branches.

I found a wonderful new blog with new challenges at Scrapbook Sisters:
The above project and the scrapbook page below  is linked to Scrap it Girl May Flowers challenge.
The 3 pinwheel flowers are made from pink lace then centered with layered, punched out flowers and a brad. The large flower is a 12inch piece of lace that I dyed with perfect pearls before making the flower.

Text and Tulle Challenge at City Crafter

This is a special lay-out for me. I wore this flower girl dress for my Aunt's wedding when I was 4.  The tulle and flowers are part of the vail but this is the last of the tulle.   I made other pages of  my older daughter in this dress and 2 other projects. I guess I have really cherished the outfit and wanted it's story to be told.

Paper Flowers/Scrappy Gifts

During our April vacation, my girls played with my new Tattered Flowers (Tim Holtz) die. They embossed a few, inked them and one is sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmermist. They did a great job, I love the layers.

These flowers are minicupcake paper flowers. The link is a u-tube tutorial. I used two colors of glimmermist but they are so big, I'm not sure I would use them in my projects. They were fun to tinker with though.

Psalms 139 Faithbook Page/Handmade Flowers

Psalms 139: 13-16 is the opening page for my first Faithbook. The theme, You Are Who You are For a Reason, continues throughout the book with every page. My last blog post (in Feb.) shows the inspiration and some ideas for completing an 8x8 book.

My inspiration for these awesome paper flowers came from Lisa at What A Beautiful Mess. I honestly have been referring to her flowers and flourishes for a while because they are so AWESOME! These pink flowers were stamped, cut out, and sprayed with water to crinkle up. After drying I inked and painted with Glossy Accents which also holds the jewels in the center. Metallic gold edges the flowers

The little gold metal flowers are ornament tops flattened with a jewel placed in the center. I then handcut a few leafy vines from patterned paper to surround the yellow glittered flourishes.

This finishes my first complete Faithbook. I hope it was an inspiration to you.

Faithbooking "You Are Who You Are For A Reason"

I finally had a chance to check out several Faithbooks created by a Creative Memories consultant friend of mine. I have used verses and quotes in the past within my pages but I have never designed an entire scrapbook specifically for the sake of the inspirational message. The book is designed around the quotes instead of the pictures. This makes it really fun to match up any picture you feel coordinates with the quote for that page.

You start with a smaller book, I used an 8x8, and one pack of pages if you are using the Creative Memories book.

There are several quotes, books or messages you can design your Faithbook around. Here are the directions to the one I just recently finished.

The first page is for centering Psalm 139:13-16 with some special embellishments. I chose not to include a picture on this page.

Then there are 21 lines therefore, 21 pages... not including your first page with Psalm 139:13-16.
The first full lay-out starts the 20 lines of quotes. It works out perfectly as the backside of the last page, number 21, is for the author's name with another picture of your choice.

Here are the 20 lines. See below for my examples of how to incorporate them into the lay-outs.

You are who you are for a reason
You're part of an intricate plan
You're a precious and perfect unique design
Called "God's special woman or man"
You look like you look for a reason
Our god made no mistake
He knit you together within the womb
You're just what He wanted to make!
The parents you had were the ones He chose
And no matter how you feel
They were custom designed with Gods plan in mind
And they bear the Master's seal
No, that trauma you faced was not easy
And God wept that it hurt you so
But it was allowed to shape our heart
So that into His likeness you'd grow
You are who you are for a reason
You've been formed by the Master's rod
You are who you are beloved,
Because there is a God!
by Russell Kelfer
Here are a few examples:
I kept the pages simple and didn't do any "wallpapering". I didn't want to take away from the point of the book. This lay-out above has pre-made frames but none of other pics had matting. Simple.

The last page
This scrapbook is for my 10yr old. I'm in the process of starting another for my 8yr old using a different message. I will share it with you hopefully by Easter.

Another idea for you...Max Lucado has a children's book, "Just in Case You Ever Wonder", this concept could be created on. It starts out "Long long ago, God made a decision"..."He made the decision to make you". What a special little book that would make.

This post also made it over to the Creative Scrapbooking Divas blog. It will be February's Special Guest Post in their Faithbooking link of their blog. Thank you so much Luisa for posting this for all the Diva's!!

Postcard Friendship Friday

I just love my vintage postcards. I have told this story before but they were spilling out of a box in a pile on the floor ready to go into the garbage. This was during the cleaning out of my husband's grandparents old farmhouse.

Neither one of these beautifully embellished cards have a stamped date, only a signature. One has the name Davidson Bros stamped on the edge and the series number which is so cool. Most of my textured postcards are dated 1909-1911.

The one in the center of my banner is dated1915.

Enjoy and thanks for checking out my Friday postcards.

Check out Beth and her gorgeous postcards along with the history of St.Valentine's Day.

Christmas Gifts/Minibook/Gifts in a Jar/Snowflakes

Somehow, not only for Christmas
But all the long year through,
The joy that you give to others
Is the joy that comes back to you.
And the more you spend in blessing
The poor and lonely and sad,
The more of your heart's possessing
Returns to you Glad...-John Greenleaf Whittier

These are a few more gifts I have been finishing up this week. My girls made the beaded snowflakes using a wire form by "The Beadsmith". It made the project more fun not having to come up with your own form. I would think Michaels or ACMoore would carry these.

The minibook is filled with fun "Friend and Girl" quotes for my friend and neighbor.

These wonderful "Gifts in a Jar" are only 3 of the several I am making. The bowl made up 6 jars of a 9 bean soup recipe. I put all the spices in a small sealed bag and is included in the jar. I put several recipes together with the help of "Taste of Home" Digest. I would include a link but blogger has thrown me into confusion with a new design being put in place (I assume that is what is going on). I'm not sure how to use my blogger anymore. That will have to wait until next year after the holidays.

I'm going to try to link up to the parties that are on my sidebar so check out eveyone's last minute gift giving ideas Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Blog Hop

The following 3 projects are for the Creative Scrapbook Diva Christmas Bloghop. 12 days filled with projects to help gift giving, cards and decor.

My pillowboxes inspiration came from Michelle's day 6 challenge. She has certainly made for than I have but I am going a bit crazy with all the combinations of paper and embellishments for these little cuties.

I run the box through my bigkick while still flat for the embossing.

Luisa's day 4 challenge is a banner using her cricut her snowflakes and letters.

I used chipboard letters over sheet music flowers I made from my dad's collection.

My last post has a more detailed banner I made last week with an extra layer of lace flowers and each letter has a beaded ribbon. This one is more simple but I think I may tie some small bells or wreaths in between each letter. These banners would be great for spring/Easter as well as Christmas!

The glass glitter edges the ovals and covers the letters and center star.

For Sandy's day 3 of the bloghop, I helped my 4th grader finish the little book. This will be for her classmates to sign for the teacher. We included a very nice Christmas quote inside the front cover.
This will make a great keepsake ornament. Thanks for the idea Sandy!

I have been having fun with my "sparkles" snowflakes (same star and snowflake as the pillowboxes) from Quickutz (used with the bigkick).

This mini book I made quite a long time ago but I planned the ribbon a bit better. If the ribbon is glued between the cover and the inside paper, it can be placed anywhere for tying or hanging. The pearls were added last on this book for hanging in a craft room.
